AI scripting & cutscene

  • In terms of the playable game i have made a few tweaks to the camera as i was playing Lord of the Rings: Return of the King for Xbox and it reminded me of the old-school camera angles from a lot of the older generation games where theere is a fixed camera in each area that when you turn a corner or eenter a new area the camera will switch. I found that this new camera style helped create more atmosphere and interest, though in the 2nd part of the game with the fight scene the camera is switched back to the typical 3rd person view with it floating behind the character as it makes it easier to see whats going on and to aim at the boss.

    I have also roughly scripted the AI for the boss fight scene so that when you get within range he will start to chase you, when you get close he will kick you away, if you get even closer he will smash you with his hammer wich deals damage to you. You can also fire Fireballs at him to kill him. I need to clean up the AI so that the transitions are smoother and so that he has more attacks to choose from. Lastly i want to add AI to the bear character so that he attacks the boss when the boss attacks you, in an attempt to defend you.
  • I have also started the cutscenes and close to finishing the Introduction Cutscene, though i still need to add the narration wich i think i will add later on so that i can focus on getting it to look correct first without havijng to worry about the audio.
